Why I Joined the Amazon Associates Program
When I started this blog and my Pinterest page, I wanted a way to share helpful products I already use and love. As a single mom working full-time, I don’t have extra hours to work a second job, so earning a little income from sharing things I genuinely recommend made sense.
How Affiliate Links Actually Work
People often wonder how affiliate links work or if they’re “doing it right” when they click. Here’s exactly how it works, step by step:
- I apply to the program
I signed up for Amazon Associates and was approved to create special affiliate links. - I create unique links
When I share a product, I use a special link generated inside my Amazon Associates account.
It looks like a normal Amazon link, but it has a tracking code attached to it that shows the click came from me. - You click the link
When someone clicks that link, a small “tracking cookie” is added to their browser. This lets Amazon know that I referred them. - You shop normally
If they buy something within 24 hours (it can be the item I linked or something totally different!), I earn a small percentage of the sale as a commission. - It costs nothing extra
The price you pay stays exactly the same. The commission comes out of Amazon’s advertising budget, not your wallet.
Why It Matters
This system lets creators like me earn a tiny bit of income without charging readers anything. It might just be cents at a time, but it adds up and helps me keep sharing helpful finds, free content, and creative ideas while supporting my family.
And just so you know: I will only share things I truly use, love, or believe are worth the money. Your trust means more to me than any commission.
A Little Thank You
When you click one of my affiliate links, you’re helping support this blog, my work, and my family—and I’m so thankful for that. 💖
